28/2/20 ^^^I'll write something meaningful today

Before you realize it 2 months is gone.  Still as far as progress is concerned, I am pretty far away from what I hope to achieve.  My ideal is to lose 30 kg and run 10 km per hour.  As it is, from a timeline point of view, I barely started.

Is this one of those wishful thinking again?  It all started with an idea.  Otherwise nothing is achieved.  As mentioned by this quote:



It has to be vision followed by action.  My problem is I am a chronic procrastinator.  Not that I am stalling on my actions.  I tend to depend on my mood and most of the time when comes to the point where I need to get into action, I am not in the mood.

So today I have to find a way to stop from being melancholy.

What to Do About Mood Swings
When mood swings become a concern to you, there are several things I suggest.
  1. Work at being optimistic. When I had a private practice in counseling and psychotherapy, I often asked my clients, “What is the worst thing that can happen?” The question frequently changed their perspective.
  2. I suggest that you place your feelings of optimism on a scale of 1 to 10, with one being a pessimist and 10 being an optimist; then, ask yourself what you need to do to change that number higher on the scale. What behavior do you need to change?
  3. Try to know what triggers your mood swing. Be on the lookout for when your mood changes significantly from one day to the next. Try to trace what happened—for example, did food or drink play a part? I know that the amount of sleep I get is related to my mood.
  4. Name the mood. It is important that you be able to name your moods. If you find your moods change rapidly, try to understand the precipitating factors. If your mood swings are similar to a person with a bipolar disorder, you may want to seek professional help.
  5. Cultivate a relationship. A mood swing is easier to handle when you have a meaningful relationship with another person.
  6. Talk to someone about your mood swings. That individual may be either professional or non-professional. The important point is for you to share how you feel and what you would like to do about your mood swings
I realized that the main reason why I can have a low mood is because I am a person who likes to plan ahead.  Normally I set a very high expectation for myself.  This is part of the mania.  While the high expectation creates mania, the mania in return makes my plan unrealistic.  When I find out later that my expectation cannot be met, I become disappointed for no reason.

Just like my plan for eating OMAD (one meal a day) and exercising AHAD (an hour a day).  Both are high expectations and are not sustainable.  This is especially true for OMAD.  I suffered trying to remain emotionally stable while feeling ravenous.  My fixation was on what to eat.  True enough, because of the abstinence, I tend to eat anything in the fridge.  Normally that means high carbs foods because those are the only foods that are available.

I took the corrective action by introducing apple and butter in my diet.  Both are appetite suppressants.  The apple, due to high fiber makes me feel full and the butter makes me able to sustain my energy longer.  After I started with this diet, I no longer have the desire to eat breads and pastries anymore.  I don't even have to have my daily dose of Nescafe Latte (without sugar).

Therefore instead of eating OMAD.  I just skip breakfast (16/8 IF protocol) and have my lunch with apple, butter and black coffee.  Then dinner I eat normal meal with one serving of rice.  No more sugary stuff.  I keep the starch.

That should take care of my diet.  I had been doing this protocol for 4 days now.  Not only I feel good all around, I don't feel hungry at all.  Most importantly I don't crave for carbs.  I already lose 1.7 kg.  Some may argue that it could be due to water loss.  Nevertheless it is better than nothing.

#traxxfm The plan is I will break from isolation every 3 months for 3 days until I can do a 3 years straight. Which means if I follow this protocol, I will be in touch again end 2022. This is a social experiment on my part to see what I can learn.

Next is the exercise part.  I noticed I can maintain my commitment if I am not too ambitious.  So here are the modifications:

  • Instead of planning for a 7 days routine, I am going to focus on a M-F 5 days routine with tennis on alternate Saturdays
  • Instead of planning to run 5 km M-F I just run on Tuesdays and Thursdays.  MWF I just do brisk walks
  • I compartmentalize my training plan to be implemented in 3 months interval and only change or add after that based on my progress
  • My progress is based on a weekly plan and execution.  The planning starts on Sunday
  • I must be in bed by 11:00 pm max.  So I stop all tasks by 10:45 pm
  • Definitely I will remain in isolation for this next 3 months.  The only reason I will fail is when I get hit by dark depression.
I should eliminate all possibilities of failure by at least doing AHAD even if I have to walk on the day that I run.
